Marie Hallager Andersen is a dance artist with a BPA from Northern School of Contemporary Dance and an MA in Creative Practice with distinction from 2016 from Trinity LABAN Conservatoire of Dance & Music in London. She moved to Horsens, Denmark in October 2017 after having been based in Leeds, England for 15 years.
Marie is also a dedicated yoga teacher and practitioner certified from Independent Yoga Network in 2011. She assisted internationally renowned Ashtanga yoga teacher Joey Miles since 2009. She has been teaching classes and workshop for beginners as well as experienced students for 8 years.
She has through her diverse work with movement developed a broad interest in the body in the context of dance improvisation and yoga. Her work spans from filmmaking and collaboration with other artists and academics in her dance practice to challenging the physical capacity of the body in a yoga setting. Marie is co-founder of the perfromance collective Mathilde and the Improvisation Exchange Leeds and she collaborates with academics (in philosophy and performance) from University of Leeds. Her passion is to make the creative process more transparent and invite audiences and viewers to see art in the making. She makes work about her experience of the world as a woman and a mother and hopes her work is honest and insightful and with a touch of humour.
Marie is also certified Life Coach and facilitator of the Liz Lerman Critical Response Process.
She has expertise in all her practises but one of her main skill is to combine these and use vocabulary and knowledge across these disciplines all inform her own research and teaching.
